Finding Freedom in Routines

While preparing for Spring, I wanted to work out more regularly and build habits and routines that would make me feel stronger and healthier heading into the warmer months. To help sustain my daily coaching of tennis, soccer, and swimming, I wanted to choose something that would complement my own practice and bring me community, joy, and hope in this difficult world we now see.


My own personal use of yoga has been very limited, and although I have led stretch classes as part of my personal training and coaching, the actual practice of being on a mat daily, part of a club, and involved in the community is brand new. It's lively, it's joyful, and it helps me build core strength, overcome burnout, and provides a safe place for me to ask my own questions about my body, aging, and recovery from sport every day.


My encouragement for us this month is to find a new pose, a new place, and a new posture for Spring, so that as we journey toward summer, seeking our ideal bodies and selves for the warmer temperatures, we must seek clarity in our own rhythm and routines. Being consistent is the quietest way to success.


Since the beginning of February, I've found that making daily decisions, not rushing, resting, and seeking clarity before choosing have helped inner peace. Leave the rat race behind and seek change through your own rituals and routines. The rhythms, routines, and rules you write will bring change.
